Alexandria Friedlander is the creator of LezPod, a lesbian/LGBTQ+ podcast that began in April of 2022 to encourage others to want to do more with their lives.

I realized the lesbian community in South Florida was lacking when it came to positivity, encouraging others, support, kindness, inclusiveness and authenticity after attending an event I was filming in Miami.

There were over 100 lesbians in a decent size club and no one was talking to each other. It made me sad and I wanted to change it so I decided to begin introducing myself to every single person I came across, or walked up to. I said “Hi, I’m Alex, the videographer and I just wanted to say what’s up.”

Lots of people appreciated it and were kind or weren’t receptive. It was a beautiful perspective and it only fueled me to want to do more. I woke up the next morning with the goal to create a positive Instagram page called LezMiami.

Covid hit and I remember how lonely I felt and could only imagine how everyone else was handling the isolation. I wanted to change something or do something meaningful, I decided to create a Safe Space for any and all person’s that identify as female, which is a weekly support group that meets on zoom. I’m proud to say we are about to hit our 50th consecutive group next week. It’s a place to share anything on your mind and what happens at Safe Space, stays there.

Shortly after, I wanted to do something different and started LezPod, a story-telling showing the importance of sharing our individuals stories to help impact one another.

My goal with the show is to introduce you to people and ideas that are going to motivate you to pursue your dreams and empower you to believe in yourself. We introduce you to remarkable people who have helped shift the world we live in today.

LezPod has had many inspirational guests such as DJ Citizen Jane, Executive Director of Safe Schools South Florida, Scott Galvin, Sexologist, Dr. Marilyn Volker, CEO of Inspire Recovery, Donna Weinberger, Chef Josie from Top Chef, Lexi Goza from State Farm, Executive Director of Aqua Foundation and Aqua Girl, Grace C. Lopez, Founders of Pandora Events, Amy Alonso and Yesi Leon and several more amazing people.

It’s wonderful how all these people are making an impact within the LGBTQ+ community by sharing their personal and intimate stories. The best part about this, I am just getting started!
